In the Layout view I can select any track I want while holding Cmd. I restarted REAPER, the startup templated loaded with the extra tracks added, but the same problem persists, still only able to select either/both of the two MIDI tracks and only ONE of the audio tracks in Mixer view. I just went ahead a re-saved the template with more blank tracks added, just to see what would happen. In the floating mixer, I am able to select only ONE of the added tracks, but I can also select one or both of the template tracks. Are you clicking on the mixer track control panel itself, and not a control (like the pan knob)?
